Ghost: Embedding timer links in a Ghost post
Ghost's card-based editor makes it straightforward to add inline timer links to any text block.
Generate your timer link
Click the button below to open the timer generator. Fill in the timer name and duration, then copy the link.
Open your post in the Ghost editor
Go to your Ghost admin dashboard, navigate to Posts, and open the recipe post you want to update.
Select the text you want to link
Click into the text paragraph containing the timed step. Select the text — for example, “cook for 12 minutes”. A floating toolbar appears.
Add the link
Click the link icon in the floating toolbar, or press Ctrl+K / ⌘K. Paste your RecipeTimer URL and press Enter. Save the post.
Using the Callout card
For a more prominent timer CTA, insert a Ghost Callout card:
- Type
/calloutin the editor to insert a callout card. - Type your timer text — e.g., ⏱ Start the 12-minute pasta timer
- Select the text and use the link icon to paste your RecipeTimer URL.
Note: Callout links render as standard hyperlinks in Ghost's email newsletters.
What your Ghost newsletter readers see
Ghost members reading on the web or via the Ghost app will see the link inline. Tapping it opens the browser timer. Android readers with the RecipeTimer app will have it intercepted into a native timer instead.
Ghost sends newsletter emails via Mailgun. Timer links work in email — tapping them opens the browser timer in the reader's default browser.
