For home cooks

Does it work on iPhone?

The Android app is available now on Google Play. The iOS app is coming — to be notified when it launches. In the meantime, timer links open a browser-based timer on iPhone that works when your tab stays open.

Is it free?

Yes. RecipeTimer is always free for home cooks. No account, no card, no catch.

Do I need to download an app?

No — timer links open a browser-based timer if you don't have the app installed. The app gives you native alerts that fire even when your phone is locked or you're in another app. The browser timer requires your tab to stay open.

Will the alert fire if I close my browser or lock my phone?

With the Android app, yes — native alerts work regardless of what else you're doing on your phone. With the browser timer, your tab needs to stay open.

How many timers can I run at once?

As many as you need. Each timer shows its own name in your notifications, so you always know which is which.

What if I miss the alarm?

The app shows how long ago the timer fired, so you can quickly decide whether to carry on or start over.

For recipe creators

How do I add a timer to my recipe?

Generate a link at recipetimer.app (free, no account needed), then add it to your recipe as a regular hyperlink. See the getting started guide for step-by-step instructions.

Do I need technical skills to embed a timer?

No. It's a link, like any other link in your recipe. If your CMS lets you hyperlink text, you can add RecipeTimer.

Can I update a timer after it's been embedded in a recipe?

On the free tier, the duration is encoded in the URL — to change the time, you'd need to generate a new link and update your post. On the Indie plan, links use a persistent UUID, so you can update the duration from your dashboard without touching your recipe.

What's the difference between the free tier and the Indie plan?

Free: generate timer links instantly, no account required. Links work forever.

Indie ($9/mo): dashboard to manage all your timers, persistent UUID links (update timer details without re-embedding), your logo and brand colour in notifications, priority email support, 14-day free trial.

What happens to readers on different devices?

Android: if they have the RecipeTimer app, it intercepts the link and creates a native timer. If not, it opens the browser timer.

iPhone: browser timer (iOS app coming soon).

Desktop: browser timer.

Privacy & data

What data is collected when a reader uses a timer link?

For creators on paid plans: anonymous analytics including device type, geographic region (country level), and whether the timer was completed or missed. No personally identifiable information is collected from readers. Readers never need an account.

Do readers need to create an account?

No. Timer links work without any login or account for the person using the timer.

Is RecipeTimer GDPR compliant?

Yes. Reader analytics are anonymous and aggregate — no personal data is linked to individual timer uses. Creator accounts store your email and payment details, processed securely via Stripe.

Can I request deletion of my data?

Yes. Email hello@recipetimer.app to request account deletion and data removal.
